Two common questions:

Q: Dr. Pane? That sounds like "Pain". Why would I go to a doctor with a name like that?

A: This is a common question and in fact, the name is the Italian word for “bread” which is actually pronounced “PAH-nay”. However, usually only folks who speak Italian will recognize this. The family tends to use the “pain” pronunciation. And don’t worry. Dr. Pane goes to great length to minimize the discomfort associated with surgical and non surgical procedures.

Q: Thomas Pane? Isn’t that someone from American History? Are you related to him?

A: The individual in question is the Englishman Thomas Paine, who came to the American Colonies in 1774 and wrote the important historical document “Common Sense”. This pamphlet was instrumental in gathering popular support for the American Revolution and the ideas presented within were later used to shape the new American government. He also wrote other works but “Common Sense” was the most significant. As he was English and Dr. Pane is of Italian and Sicilian descent, there is no relation.
